Oconee Forest Park
This 60-acre natural area has walking trails, a 1.2-mile mountain bike trail, and a 15-acre lake. Mature oak and hickory trees mingle with tulip poplars in the 100-year-old forest, home to the largest scarlet oak tree in Georgia. Free. Trails open daily sunrise to sunset. State Botanical Garden of Georgia
Enter this serene 313 acre oasis through the three story glass and steel Visitors Center and Conservatory and explore walking trails for the study and enjoyment of the Georgia's indigenous flora, rose gardens, and other habitats. Georgia's flora is among the most diverse in the U.S. Various climatic zones and soil types support an amazing array of species, many of which can be found at the Garden.
